picking their way along hugging the coast. Just as we were abeam of Cromer we passed 5 mine layers travelling North. They were all two funnelled paddlewheeled steamers of about 700 tons each and built like models. They steamed line ahead equidistant from each other. Travelling along the coast line & looking like a speck in the skies one of Englands watchers in the form of an aeroplane could be seen. Thanks to these a German fleet or Zeppelin cannot leave Germany travelling West without the fact being known to our aerial authorities. At regular intervals along the coast are aeroplane stations, from which aviators ascend and make reconnaissances. At 7.30 we passed a couple
