but were agreeably disappointed because it was like a sheet of glass all the way across it. Our first Church parade was conducted by Chaplain Mr Cook on 7th May. We arrived at Albany West Aus on Tuesday 9th May. This was the first port of call since leaving Sydney. The coaling of our boat took about four days. We were not allowed to go ashore so we had to be content with a look at Albany from the ship. We steamed out of Albany on Thursday 11th May. As we were leaving the 33rd Btn on board S S. Marathon passed us, they were going into Albany to coal up. There was a pretty stiff wind blowing as we gained the open sea again.
