We were told that there were just on two thousand guns of all sizes in the forts We knew after leaving Gibraltar that we were bound for England & everyone was happy at the thoughts of seeing England We eventually arrived at Plymouth on 23rd June & disembarked & entrained for Salisbury Plains We had a very nice trip in the train through what is reckoned to be one of the prettiest parts of England We stopped at Exeter where the Mayoress & other ladies of Exeter had tea with buns & cake waiting for us.
