However our turn came on 21st Sept; we moved out in the evening and rode over to the wadi Auja and follwoed it down to the Jordan. The regt. camped there but C. Sqdn spent the day across the Jordan doing patrols and got well and truly shelled doing them; but had no casualties. We came back in the evening; and found the regt had gone some where North, so we camped for the night and rejoined next afternoon when we all crossed the Jordan again as the Turks had left and had gone back through Es Salt.

It seemed funny riding across the Jordan plane in columns of lump in broad daylight; when we had not been game to show our noses there before. The Turks had made the flat wonderfully strong, miles and miles of barbwire and cavalry traps and trenches and
