walk over the scorching sand of egypt. It was [indecipherable] a few miles.. a couple of other Light Horse officers & myself hired a bunch of Gyppies to carry out bags. With half a moon to guide us & a few palms down by the Canal to re-assure us that we really were in Egypt we started out the Gyppies trailing behind with our impediments. Eventually we reach Camp & turned in. If mine was a feather bed, then the man who put the feathers in forgot to take the fowls out. As a matter of fact I slept on mother earth with my coat to soften the hard places. . .
