somewhere down the Canal which turned out to be Sepereaum [Serapeum] during our journey we passed through a pretty french town Ismalia [Ismailia] which is well protected from the Sun by big trees & its very clean [compared] to Cairo. its quite nice to be camped on the Bank of the canal as we are able to enjoy a daily dip & its interesting to see the Ships pass through.   we generally cheer them & they throw us cigar & cigarettes, Biscuits & etc. all days seem alike here & to day 12 of our men left for outpost duty 12 miles out into  the desert   they go for a fortnight & are then relieved by another section for a [indecipherable]  period. The Indians are camped near by & we have great fun [indecipherable]  their Mules. The British Tommies
