<p>[Page 169]<br />Oct 31 Tues Action this morning at 8 A.M. Inspection by the Major, Muster full-marching order parade. We were interrupted by Action coming from A.3. On Guard to night mount 4 o&rsquo;clock P.M. 3rd relief Rain cleared for a while cool night. Fires going.</p><p>November 1 1916 changed on to orderly this morning Barton took my place Guard. Had a long trip to O.P. round past Flubaux then into Saily made Inquiries for my mail got two letters. talking to Col. Phillips &amp; met Leut. Mathews Did some writing. Beautifull day. Had a good look at Fritz&rsquo;s land from O.P. Two more trips to Saily this afternoon and after tea.</p><p>Overwritten on side: Big day with the French Catholics all went to Mass. I could not get away. [All Saints Day]</p>
