This diary covers the arena from Egypt to France and then to England.]<br /><br />31st March 1916.<br />The memorable march of the 5 Division of Infantry from Tel-el-Kebir to Terry Poot about 35 miles, They started out full pack no water but what they carried in their bottles. The heat was terrific They were in command of Gen. Irvin and he led them through the heavy sand away from the railway &amp; Canal The want of water heat &amp; sand brok the men up compleatly some exausted died on the way and others were found raving in a salt lake. Very few went right through</p>
