<p>[Page 104]<br />June 23 Fri Turned out 5 A.M. to relieve signallers on Guard Mounted at 5.45 A.M. cleaned rifle etc. My first Guard in France. Did some writing. Misty rain and cloudy I am on the 3rd releafe Used Great coat for rain first time. Did not rain much. Turned in after 12 mid-night.</p><p>June 24 Sat Did last releave from 6 A.M. till 9 A.M. got 2 extra loaves of bread very acceptable Had a rest all day Went to Y.M.C.A. There are some splendid lectures give by Capt. Miller at the latter place &quot;Home life in France&quot; etc. Had cup of tea at Y.M.C.A. and chat to some of the old Verdun and Yepreys Boys tales of the trenches.</p>
