We are little acquainted with the initnitable Dyes which are used in India, and while we continue thus ignorant, our printed Manufactures must continue inferior in Colours to the Chintzes and Callicoes of the East.
From a young Gentleman who is now in the East Indies, we expect a more perfect Account, both of the Dying Materials, and of the whole Art of printing Cloth as it is there practised, that any that has been given.

Nerium Antedysentericum. Linn. Conessi
This Shrub grows plentifully in Ceylon & Malabar.
Its bark has been but lately imported into Europe, but will probably come to be better known. It has been found, particularly by Dr. Munro&, to be a Medicine of very extraordinary Power in Dysenteries. It has been translated from the Materia Medica of the Indians to that of Europe:-. A source from whence many of our best Medicines have been derived, and from which many valuable Acquisitions of the same kind, are still to be expected.
Observations.

In the above Catalogues of Plants proposed to be transferred from the East to the West Indies, we have entirely confined ourselves to such as do either at present, or which with a little Attention may be brought to afford Commodities for Trade. A particular description of the Plants was needless to be here inserted, but would be highly necessary if any enquiry concerning their
