The former is the outermost part of its Trunk, and made use of as a Drug.  The latter is the heart of the Tree and used as a Dye.

These Woods are brought to Europe only by the Dutch from Siam, and from their Islands of Timor and Solor.

Amomum cardamomum. Linn.     Cardamom.

The Seeds of this Plant are an elegant and grateful Aromatick, and much esteemed in Medicine, when they can be had fresh and genuine.  In India they are used in Diet.

The Plant grows in Ceylon, and in the Territory of Visapour on the Malabar Coast.

Strychnos  Nux Vomica. Linn.

The Fruit of this Tree is the Nux Vomica of the Shops.
It grows in Ceylon and Malabar.

Strychnos colubrina.  Linn.

The Root of this Tree is the Lignum Colubrinum of the Shops.
It grows in the Molaccas and on the Malabar Coast,

Aircennia officinale.  Linn

The Fruit of this Tree is the Oriental Anacardium of the Shops.
It grows in Malabar and the Philippine Islands
