All along the Banks of the Canal were troops & some were in swimming. I felt glad that were were not going out on the desert because it seemed so barren & far too hot for my liking. We did not reach Port Said until about 6 oclock on Saturday 10th June. The length of the Canal is reckoned to be 88 miles long.
