My dear old Dad

I'm fit and well - safe & sound after the wonderful experiences of the past few weeks, and have been in a dozen skirmishes and 3 pitched battles, and so far my luck has stood to me.   The cables will already have given you the full story of our wonderful victory.    Later on I will try to tell you some idea of my own experiences - not for publication.

The Australian and New Zealand mounted  men have been Allenby's trump card. throughout the whole show. Our boys alone (Onslows) have captured several thousand prisoners.   I had the unique experience of clearing a village by a charge with drawn swords & then with  13  men only cutting in two a column of enemy retreating several thousand strong & the capturing with about 20-30 men over 3,500 prisoners....   It sounds too good to be true but it should
