I sent a man into Cairo in April to cable Anne 5 pounds for her birthday but he returned yesterday  and said it would have cost 30/- to cable the money, which   was a shocking proposition!   I'm hoping to ge tto Cairo next week or so to Topographical School and I'll sent the money then.

I hope dear old mother is keeping   fairly wel.l   Tell her I'm fit as a fiddle and as I was born with a caul, I cant get killed. As Jean says
