The mosquitoes were long legged fancy winged things  with antennae & a sharp probosus and they sent a lot of our chaps to hospital with malaria.   One has died

Knowing the danger I never wore shorts & always covered my face and arms up when I slept. Mostly I had to sleep with all my ironmongery on. The Turks attacked 4 times and once got right up to our trenches.   I had the bad - or good luck to be OC of the ajoining post to Mussell***ah.   Here the Turks only demonstrated .   Perhaps they intended to attack - but I threw out a section (20 men )onto a commanding ridge
