Frightful storm in the evening.

Thursday, 12 January 1922

I nearly go mad with nothing to do. I buy cigs & smoke. I go to Carlingford & walk to Epping. Wretched motor in second gear - on the level. Just catch a train. We gather apples, have tea, music & go across to  Uncle Bert's, the bird loves music & chatter & phonograph records. We race for the train me with 3 parts of a sac of apples. We just miss the awful storm & get Home fairly dry. We have a bath, supper & to bed. I lose pounds in weight after perspiring so much. I cannot get to sleep until after 2 pm.
