went in hopes of finding some roots of the Great Sea Cudweed (which Mr Hudson had discoverd in that neighbourhood Last year) but was disapointed for the High Tide in the beginning of January had so totaly chang'd the face of the Beach especialy in this Part of the Island that it was as I guessd totaly overwhelmd by the sand which was forcd up a great deal farther inland than formerly & had Destoyd not only that but most of the Plants of Horned Poppy in Company of which it was found our trip to this Place was in some measure however repaid by finding a Sea Louse which I had never before seen with which we returned with Excellent stomachs to Eastchurh [Eastchurch] & from thence Home to Sheerness.

March 1st - Went this morn by the assistance of our Good Freind the Clerk of the Checque on board a fire ship to see the various Trains which are contrivd to set the ship on fire in all Parts almost in a moment for the Laying of which the Structure of the Ship between Decks is Particularly constructed about three feet wide on Each side of her is seperated by Bulkheads which Contains three Rows of troughs filled with Quickfire which Communicate with Each other between the fore & main & between the main & after holds so that the holds are merely wells boarded on Each side down to the Hollop deck where the People Live the Captains Cabbin indeed is situate abaft between Decks but the side next the Trains is tinnd over to prevent accidents communicating with this is a Small Door through which the trains are fird & also out of the side of
