the same as usual, which appears to me would have the best effect.  In having their victuals to cook themselves, it causes a waste to made by many.  In some cases it would be best for their victuals to be ready cooked for them.  It is necessary there should be large gardens made, whereby everyone might have a share of vegetables, this would not only benefit the prisoners, but tend to put a stop to the common practice of robbing gardens, which seems to be done from want.

I do not think a better place could have been pointed out for to transport to, if perhaps its equal.  Being situated at a large distance is not the only advantage, but nature not having furnished it with food, sufficient to maintain any other race of men than the aborigine, this together with being surrounded with inaccessible rocky woods,* which are thickly covered with underwood, is a just check upon the prisoners deserting their
