They seemed a bit frigid at first but we have got pretty thick 'hides' nowadays & they soon thawed unde the influence of my "Parlez-vous ing" as Bob & I made our selves at home & put 2 tins of Maconochie [Transcriber's note: a vegetable stew] into the oven to heat They put a jug of beer in front of us & then gave us some hot coffee & cognac.
Billetted in Tilques for 3 days & spent each evening in their house & they told me if ever passing through again to be sure to go & see them.
