The menu was as follows 10 (five each) Fried Eggs – salad – bread & butter tin of Herrings I had left over from my last parcel – Coffee & then afterwards a bottle of champagne consumed while smoking some 10 for 2d cigarettes! Champagne & Woodbines & yet such is active service.
He is billetted at 'Jesus Farm' near 'Nieppe' about 5 miles on our left so yesterday afternoon got a permit & rode over to see him & after another tea – eggs as usual only boiled this time – we laid in a grass paddock & smoked & yarned of old times & watched the aeroplanes & shrapnel
