the two Richardsons, Reg Rhodes & Jack Eddison (now Captain) & Paul Steinthal (now Petrie) Major O.C I stopped till dark & did not get back to our lines till 11 p.m.

Aug 1 (Tuesday) Bonneville
arrived here from Senlis yesterday afternoon about 15 miles back, a very hot day which the horses found trying, Passed through the villages of Contay & Herissart en route. Various units of the 1st Division are here waiting for reinforcements to make up their strength again. We have to go 1½ miles to water our horses (that means 3 miles each journey 3 times a day)
