Small tank No 4

Three loads pf Gouais of average sp grav of 1089º and one and half of Verdeilho of average sp grav 1044 average of whole about 1093º quantity about 588 gallons.

5th March Commenced working strongly last night added 42 gals brandy (Madeira) 6 P.M. working briskly but moderately temp 74º -

6th March 7 a.m. working briskly temp 80º sp grav 1054º added 22 gals brandy (total 64) at 10 a.m. added 100 gals fresh must from verdielho of sp grav 1105º (making the average of tank about 1094º½ - at 7 P.M. working briskly & sturdily temp 80º.

7th March 6 a.m. temp 84º working briskly & sturdily added 10 gals (total 74) (or about 10 pact)

8th March has subsided greatly but still works briskly head quite absorbed. sp grav 1011º temp 84º at noon sp grav 1108 - at 4 P.M. racked off into two 420 gal casks in cellar the second not being full, but added one hogshead of G.M. upstairs to fill it -

11th March Both casks have effervensed briskly at bung No 1   temp   No 2    temp
