was freezing cold. I was on guard out in the loo. We are still on starvation rations.

We are working on the railway still & have very nearly completed it. But the cold is terrible. The mud has all frozen hard.

A piece of shell knocked my hat off today & never touched me. Shook hands with myself again.

They are sending us into the line again shortely. An aeroplane fell on top of our hut yesterday of course both were
