The Battalion paraded for church parade at 9.55 and marched down to Daours on to a vacant piece of land where the other battalions also assembled. The parade was less of a bore than these religious functions are as a rule. In the middle the General was called away and each Battalion commander in the marchpast, took the salute of his battalion. The columns looked well as they swung past to the tune of the band. We reached camp rather hot and dusty and then sudden orders came for me to report to Bde H.Q. at once and prepare to move. Went to Bde H.Q. and had a conference with the General & all the other officers of the group there. Got the dinkum and rode right back to our
