to push Duggan's people up round Mt. St. Quentin which we did. Our communications back are rotten and we are out of touch with the guns which are losing opportunities of inflicting much damage on the Hun. Over 600 prisoners have passed here today. Too few men, inability to mop up m.g's which remain active after our scanty numbers have passed – these are our recent defects or rather those of our leaders because officers & men are alright. At 1 pm I went up on to a high bank just in front of this ravine and from there could look right up to the commanding height of Mt St Quentin.
