We start our long arduous climb up the hills (riding & leading) on to Es Salt.[As Salt]. Several minor accidents of horses falling, some men injured. My horse is like a goat. Arrived on top of hills which surround Es Salt. 8th L.H. holding a position. "B" Sqdn of 10th detailed for a bayonet charge. We hop over under barrage from machine gun fire, down a steep rocky hill & up other side. Turks entrenched but we carry the position. I & 2 others finish off 6 in a trench. It is nearly dark but we have some good shooting. 50 odd prisoners taken. We do outpost after
