Salat el Dumm to Jericho

Left here at 7 am watered & travelled in ½ sections down to Jericho Road. White dust & hills also white chalk. Very hot. Arrived foot of Jericho Rd. at 11 am. Camped 4 m. NW Jericho under Temptation Hill. Greek orthodox monastery & village built on cliff half way up hill. Top of hill walled in.

Magnificent wild & rugged scenery. Giant hills. Very little vegetation. Very hot in day cold at night. Flies bad.

Plenty of water. Small creek fast running only 100 yds away. Stony country, valley of Jordan about 15 miles wide.
