Received a letter from a weak minded acquaintance receiving requesting my views on the matter of his coming to France as he has a bad knee evidently, the result of about 18 months non-combatance? in Australia and England where he now is. He has never been to the front.

Last night we were visited once more by a german aeroplane which dropped bombs in the vicinity of our chateau and also on St. Omer. He was given an enthusiastic reception by numerous anti-aircraft guns.
