Played Piano for Church. Played too loud, gave no breathing time & no expression. Malish.

Monday 7 August 1916
Sick Parade. I get a cold from Playing Football.

Tuesday 8 August 1916
One letter from Bess. Went next door & watched arrival of 130 Turkish Prisoners.

Wednesday 9 August 1916
Leave all day. Played Billiards, saw Australian wounded come in to Cairo. Dinner Y.M.C.A., Tea at Groppi's.

Thursday 10 August 1916
I go on S.P. 2 days, no drill. Cois Cateer. Play Cards with neighbours W.D. & Tommy W.

Friday 11 August 1916
Ward Master. Finish top floor of Mel. Pav. Work finishes.

Saturday 12 August 1916
Route March. I am well away. I am O. Corp. & Postman. I help sort letters. I get 2 from Home, one Hilda & one May Coppin. Parade at 4 p.m. & I don't hear the Bugle. Shepherd's Band plays Y.M.C.A. Dick Rowe comes to Tea.
