Sunday 2 July 1916
Wrote Home (49). Spent a quiet evening outside our tent listening to Phonograph. Night Matron again falls to my lot. Hooted out of Bed at 10.45 p.m. to go to Billy's Ward.
Monday 3 July 1916
Ward Master all day. Wrote Cards to Mem, Edie Tory, Ada Cohen, I. Westaway, Jess Mather.
Tuesday 4 July 1916
Bill, Dave & I go to Cairo for a run. Visit all the Popular places.
Wednesday 5 July 1916
Ellis, Bill & I go to Heliopolis to meet Dick Rowe. Also meet McKenzie, Dinkum Soldier McKenzie. All Patients come inside the Ward. A kid of 5 talks French & English with equal ease.
Thursday 6 July 1916
Everything as usual, had a very lazy day. Lay in bed at evening & thought of Home & Friends.
Friday 7 July 1916
Late dinner day. Wrote Harry Taubman & Edie Taubman. Tried hard to rain. Staff gives a concert in Y.M.C.A. Hut. Very hot day & Earn malingers.
Saturday 8 July 1916
The 4 Jews go out to Y.M.C.A. I met Roy Ingram. Ellis wins 3 games Billiards. Dave & I beat Billy & Ellis 105 to 50. We dine at Y.M.C.A. & have a sing-song with McKenzie from Manly. Went to Anzac Hotel for Tea & concert afterwards.
