Went to Kasr-el-Nil [also spelt Qasr al-Nil] Gardens & Bridge. Met Yankee girls. Tea at Brit. Sold. Club at Esbekiah. Met Said up the Waazaa. Billy Bagnall & all watched the Dance, Vin, Ellis, Bill & I.

Joined the Cricket Club & started Hot Plasters.
Tuesday 4 April 1916
L. Porman, Home. 2 m. issued 4 pkts. Cigarettes. Dave Niness gave me 4 pkts. Billy Bagnall & I played Euchre, Crib & Casino while Ellis, Billy & Dave played Draughts.
Wednesday 5 April 1916
Went for a tour round the Mouski. Ellis buys Blouse, I buy Gold Ash Tray. Eric & I buy oranges & dates.
Thursday 6 April 1916
Ellis, Billy & I played draughts. Night Wardmaster. Shifted man from Boob to 4 Sydney 12 midnuit, much language.
Friday 7 April 1916
Morris' rabbit drive. Tried to learn French verbs but am still trying. Dreamt of J. Mather again, 3rd time.
Saturday 8 April 1916
More Smallpox, more rabbit drives. Bread throwing stops. No leave. All Patients vaccinated.
