[This diary of Cpl. Henry (Harry) Nicholls of the Army Medical Corps begins when he is on board the Gloucester Castle and is travelling between Fremantle and Suez where he disembarks for Cairo. He is in Cairo from January until the middle of September when he goes on board the Aquitania to travel to Southampton and then on to Tidworth in Wiltshire. He describes his work, his visits to surrounding villages, a trip to the Isle of Man to visit relatives and records in detail the letters written and received by him. Cpl. Nicholls is a pianist and on many occasions plays for the church services.]
