Sunday 3rd November
It has been decided that the 2nd Australian Division shall erect a monument on Mt. St. Quentin so while in London I wish to make preliminary arrangements.
Today Miss Butler George took me to a first class Australian Sculptor – Mr. Web Gilbert, and with him discussed details of such a monument. He is to prepare a sketch for me to see.

Monday 4th November
At Camberwell Hospital in morning and sitting to Mr. Longstaff in afternoon. Wet miserable day.

Tuesday 5th November
At Camberwell Hospital in morning. In afternoon left for Bradford. John and Edith met me at Station. Spent a very pleasant evening with them. Sisters all came to dinner.

Wednesday 6th November
With Edith visited Art Gallery in morning. A fine building well cited. In afternoon met Mr. Arnold and he later took us over his mill. Very interesting indeed.
Dined at Chesham park – all families being present. Mr. Sudders of Birmingham also called and I arranged to go with him tomorrow to his home.

Thursday 7th November
With Mr. Sudders left Bradford at noon for Birmingham. Motored out to Harborne and met Mrs. Sudders and family including Margaret (Mrs. George Halford). Had a very pleasant evening.

Friday 8th November
With Major Greg inspected his works, the Metropolitan Carriage and [indecipherable] works. They have for some time been building tanks and Handley Page Aeroplanes. I spent a most interesting and profitable morning. Lunched with the Director at the works and in afternoon Major Greg arranged for me to inspect the British small arms factory. He accompanied me.
