I am sorry the P. Council desires the demi Sols to be 28 to the Pound because I have proportiond my engraving to the size of the plan as you sent to me & if they absolutely will have them at 28 the head must be made larger even than the Britannica, in the mean time I still strike them of the size which we agreed upon, tell me I beg how long you think I must stay in England & whether you think it will be wiser in me to keep or to sell my Furniture &c, &c.

No. 16 - Feb. 18, 1788
Speaks much of his diligence & the time it will take him to finish his machinery, asks how long he must stay in England.

No. 17 - March 23
Talks of Mr. Williams having attend to treat with him tho he askd 100,000 Liv [indecipherable]:  which he refusd, he cannot he says engage for 2 years lest he should lose the opportunity of employment in France, he is making a model of his Press & will send it over, he has made 3 machines for edging the coins & tho they do not agree on terms is doing his utmost to forward the work, he speaks of 500 a year as too little making residence in England.

No. 18 - March 31
Announces the having provided to Mr. B. a model of a Balencer & a drawing & that he continues to work upon 3 presses, he continues also to work upon the die of the demi Sol & intends to strike it of the weight of 250 grains & proposes scrolls for the edge instead of inscription, he does not however go on with so much spirit as formerly, Mr. B's last letter having causd him some chagrin.

No. 19 - April 16
Lest the Custom house officers should have neglected to replace the drawings in the case he sends another & enters into considerable explanation of the machinery, he works still at the Presses but will do his utmost to be ready to come over by the end of May.
