These kind of Murthers are rendered easy by their Cloaks, which are a Part of the Dress, I may say, of every Man in Portugal;  from the highest, to the lowest:  they consist of a large Piece of Cloth, gathered at one end, which goes over their Shoulders, whilst the other falls down to the Feet:  their method of wearing them, is to take the right hand flap, & throw it over the left Shoulder, raising it with their right hand, as high over their Faces as they please; often as high as their noses: by which means, they are easily disguised, beyond a possibility of being known; especially in the night, when as there are no Lamps in the City, dark places
