Riches: which indeed are disposed with more taste, than any thing else of the kind; tho' that is paying them no great Compliment: here are three Pictures in Mosaick [mosaic] Work, said by the Portugese [Portuguese] to be first things of their Kind in the World: the Pillalrs, which are 16 or 18 inches in diameter, are inlayed [inlaid] with Lapis Lazuli: & every other ornament is Massey Silver Gilt: the whole was made at Rome.
These pieces of expence, serve to shew [show] how much they were attached to their Religion; a few years ago they were the greatest Bigots in the World: but now the case is very materially altered, since
