<p>a4701784.html</p><p>2./&nbsp; long to get out of this rotten un-natural life!</p><p>The last time I was between sheets was Jany &#39;17 @ Southall Convalescent Dep&ocirc;t, but I am hoping &amp; trusting that my leave to England will soon come, (or better still, Victory, &amp; that everlasting peace) so that I can break the awful monotony.</p><p>We are still pottering about just a few hundred yards to rear of &quot;No Man&#39;s Land&quot; &amp; amongst the many batteries which are on all sides of us, making an awful din &amp; keeping us awake day &amp; night.&nbsp; We&#39;ll be in this &quot;4ward Area&quot; for some weeks yet, so the change to more &quot;healthy&quot; &amp; congenial surroundings will be long looked for &amp; be most welcome.</p><p>I will try &amp; find Bert again when we go out for the &quot;Rest&quot; (God Willing) as his Camp is a fixed one &amp; the one we expect to go to is not far away - about 3 Kilometres I think (1&frac34; miles - nearly).&nbsp; Am hoping that all is still well with [?] &amp; &quot;Bill&quot; Easton.&nbsp; They were both, @ time of my last visit, (while I was @ the musketry School) working in shift in the Region we are now in.&nbsp; From this little rise I can see (faintly) the Ridge on which he was working, &amp; where we were in action during Nov. last.&nbsp; I am @ present in a little post with the Lewis gun &amp; glasses watching for any sign of Hun aircraft which may pluck up enough courage to cross his Line.</p><p>During our 4 or 5 days on this duty not one of his &#39;planes has come over here, but ours are buzzing &amp; whirring about overhead in</p>
