Left 6.30 am. Cold & windy & very dusty. Road still hilly. Halted 10 am after watering for lunch.
Off again 11.30 am. On the plains now with range of hills on left, looking very picturesque. Plains dotted with habitations. Very fertile country. Mediterranean Sea sighted. Travelled along coast & halted near beach close to river. Gale increased in velocity. Dust & black sand plentiful. Camped here - few miles outside Tripoli.
Big range of hills (4 in number) at the back of us - The Mountains of Lebanon.
