[Transcriber's notes: This diary begins in camp on Salisbury Plain prior to leaving for France on 23 Nov. 1916. When not required on stretcher duties he was on general duties. He describes his involvement in the Battle of Messines, June 1916, the 3rd Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele) and recounts the losses suffered by 9th Field Ambulance during the October Passchendaele offensive. He was wounded by a shell splinter but recovered quickly and returned to duty]
