I have seen at the Spice Islands, and the same kinds which are indigenous to Prince of Wales Island, prompts me to say, that the Spice plants will succeed at Prince Wales Island with care & become of National benefit.

     To send 10,000 Plants to Prince Wales Island under my own care, and after having planted and put the Plants to wrights there, to allow me (once more) to proceed to the Moluccas for the purpose of collecting all the rare & useful Plants of these Islands with which they abound.

     That all the Clove & Nutmeg Plants remaining in the Botanic Garden be distributed all over the Bengal provinces in order to give them a tryal [trial]. -

     His Lordship in Council was pleased to Sanction these propositions.-

     On the 17th of October I sailed from Calcutta with 10,000 Plants on board for Prince Wales Island, on the 20th we experienced a tremendious Gale of Wind
