It was stormed in no time.
There are three objectives. The third was reached at 1 o'clock. About 4,000 prisoners. I believe the Fritzs ran like rabbits The advance was about 2 miles. The casualties were very light.
Sept 23rd 1917
We went up into Ypres today. They haven't told us what for but it is the stunt for shure. What a beautiful city it has been & now a mass of shattered ruins. There is not a house left standing. The Cloth Hall a once beautiful structure is now levelled to the ground. We are billetted in the Post Office, one of the Highest buildings.
