In this lot of letters you were all talking about the 20th Bn fete. How did it turn out? Probably that question will be answered long before you get this.
There are all sorts of rumours travelling round at present, mostly good. We know for certain about the Russian successes, & about the fleet's victory, we also have most cheerful rumours about Verdun, which I hope are true. It was jolly hard luck losing Kitchener, but I suppose we have plenty of men to take his place.
