Journal for the Month of June 1817.
B.G. Cattura 15th. Employed some Extra coolies to bring the Garden to a state of Cultivation the first step taken was to increase the Oranges Pumplimos and Limes, there being but very few good trees in the place. I have taken the most simplest and quickest method of propagation, the only method used in this country is tying up the branches with fine rich mould and coir the outside of the Coconut, similar to the method Practised in England of putting pots upon the branches of Vines and other Exotics.
B.G. Slave Island. Nothing particular has been planted this month the chief thing done was in conveying Kabooc mould Paddy husks from St Sebastian and manure from the Cattle Godowns in the Padie Boat, for the purpose of forming a border on each side of the walk at the entrance of the Garden.
G.G. Fort Lettuce, Endive, Indian corn, and different sorts of Beans have been sown; a plantation of Pines made in rows the same way that Celery is generally planted in England
