I received a letter from Kitty Martin today dated March 25.

This afternoon there was brisk aerial activity between our planes & the enemies. The machines were brought down & I saw one fall in flames, but dont know whose it was.

There was a lot of rain last night and we were almost flooded out of bed as the rain came through the Tarpolen.

From about 8 to 9.30 the artillery on our right bombarded the enemy with great intensity

Yesterday the enemy had up 3 baloons & today at least half a dozen and we have none but our numerous aeroplanes keep an effective watch. Presumably all ours have been captured in the recent disastrous retreat.

I saw a paper tonight the first one since we have been on the Somme
