I am picquet tonight from 12.30 to 3.30, third picquet. Many of the lads & officers were up when I came on picquet expecting orders to move at any time.
Saturday March 23. 1918. 1328
Revellie at 6 a.m. The hack men I called when I came off picquet. We left Colombs at about 10 and travelled the usual route until we passed Lumbres when we took the main road to St Omer and camped for the night at an adjoining village St Martin au Laert arriving in good time at 3.30. I was brakeman for W.Kiley and rode by turns with him This little village adjoins St Omer which we visited after tea and saw the church which is a very handsome cathedral both inside and out, also the french barracks now used by the British & the town hall.
Sunday March 24. 1918. 1329.
Cold last night but hot again today. Revellie 6 a.m. We left St Mark au Laert at 8.30 & passed through Arques and halted at Wardrecques for dinner, also tea.
