We returned to St Omer & shortly afterwards I was declared to be by the Divisional Medical Board a victim of exhaustion & marked for England.
August 11th.
In a motor ambulance I was taken to the 58th Scottish Hospital at St Omer. First of all my arms & equipment were passed into the Clearing Station, & I haven't carried a rifle or bayonet since. The joy of getting a hot bath, a suit of pyjamas
