usual slow journey & as we proceeded we noticed a large number of Chinese labourers on the line. They had been imported by the French. We camped a few miles out from Bapaume, being classed as reserves, but there was no active fighting going on. During the period up to the middle of July we were trained at a new form of attack which was very trying. There was a good picture show at Bapaume &amp considering we were within range of Fritz's shells it is astounding that the enemy did not make a target
