Got the limber OK & had our gear taken into Solre where I reported to Johnny Walker. Some argument occurred at Solre about conveyance. Only had 4 lorries for 5 lorry loads. Still we eventually got away & arrived in Charleroi about 1.30 pm. It was some trip too. Gee the bumps were great (I don't think). Had some lunch at the club & then walked round the town seeing things (even saw the waxworks. They were of human beings showing different parts of the body & diseases). After this went out to Chatelet in the train & wandered around some looking for Dave Hilton. He didn't turn up for about 2 ½ hours. When he did we went to the mess & had dinner & then for a stroll going home to his billet where I slept the night.

30.1.19
Up at 6.30. shaved & washed & then caught the train back to Charleroi where I met the N.C.O's then went & had brekker & went over to the train. All trucks the train consisted of. Left Charleroi about 10 am & gee it was some ride. When the train started we were bumped off our feet & the same when the train stopped. We had a stove in our truck but it took about 4 hours to get a decent heat & then it wasn't constant. We had plenty of rations & after a bit managed to get a little straw. We had 12 officers in our truck while the 'Diggers' had 28 & 30.

31.1.19.
Gee, it was icy last night. Got a couple of tins for washing. Had a ride on the engine for awhile getting water. Managed to get a shave without cutting myself. Got tons
