Church parade this morning. The Battalion was separated into R.C. C. G. and Presbyterian Methodists. C. of E. is the state Church here and that was the service used on the parade ground where all the Australian Battalions were assembled around an artificial hill, on the top of which stood the clergy. there were 4 ministers, and the Bishop of the Diocese, in their robes. One of the ministers held the Bishops Staff.
The sermon which was a very eloquent one, welcoming the Australian was preached by the Bishop. At the conclusion of the services the bishop gave his blessing holding the staff in his hand. After singing the National Anthem there was a march past the Bishop & Clergy.
