Mon Feb. 26th
At Sea.   Alarm 9-0 A.M.   Ships in 2 lines with cruiser leading. Everybody now wears lifebelts.   F

Tues Feb. 27th
At Sea. Self mess orderly  from Sunday 25th.   35th  finding guard.   Second prize for best kept deck, 35th.   One of the Posts of our guard is on gangway to E  stokehold  with orders to shoot any of the stokers (Chinese) from leaving stokehold in event of anything happening to ship. (Wireless) Kut-il-Amara [also spelt Kut Al Amara] retaken by our troops.   F

Wed Feb 28th
20th Bn  appointed Permanent submarine guard.   Alarm 9-0  A.M.   Sports in the afternoon. Weather fine. Should now be inside Tropics. Ships still in same formation. Sausages for breakfast not up to mark. Burial service held on them with buglers etc. Last post sounded as they were consigned to the deep, all hands saluting as they went over the side.
